In a historic moment for Kenya Sevens Rugby, Collins Injera, one of the sport’s most iconic players, was inducted into the Fiji Rugby Hall of Fame.

The accolade, which recognizes the achievements and contributions of rugby players from around the world, was announced on Jan 11 during a ceremony held in Suva, Fiji.

Injera, who is widely considered one of the best sevens players in the world, is the first Kenyan to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

He is also the most capped Kenyan Sevens player with over 260 appearances for the national team, and has scored over 230 tries in international competitions.

He is also the second-highest try scorer in the World Rugby Sevens series and the fifth most in international rugby sevens history.

“It is an honor to be recognized among some of the greatest players in the history of rugby,” Injera said upon receiving the award.

“I am humbled to be the first Kenyan player to be inducted into the Fiji Rugby Hall of Fame, and I hope that this achievement will inspire future generations of Kenyan players to reach for greatness.”

The ceremony was attended by several rugby dignitaries, including World Rugby CEO, Brett Gosper, who praised Injera for his contributions to the sport.

“Collins Injera is a true legend of the game and his induction into the Fiji Rugby Hall of Fame is a fitting recognition of his outstanding career,” Gosper said.

The induction of Injera into the Fiji Rugby Hall of Fame is a testament to his outstanding talent and dedication to the sport, and is sure to be celebrated by fans and players alike. His achievement will go down in the Kenyan rugby history and continue to inspire many.

The inclusion of Injera in the Hall of Fame, is not only a personal achievement for him but also a pride to the Kenyan Rugby fraternity as a whole and is expected to lead to more recognition in the future.
