Former Harambee Stars captain, Victor Wanyama, recently found himself in a light-hearted moment at the apartment of his ex-CF Montreal teammate and current Celtic right-back, Alistair Johnston.
In a delightful twist of fate, Wanyama, once a celebrated figure at Celtic, now resides in Johnston’s former apartment, leading to a humorous situation highlighted by Johnston on a recent episode of the Official Celtic FC Podcast. This amusing anecdote surfaced just days before Celtic secured a hard-fought victory against Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, with Johnston scoring the decisive goal early in the match.
Johnston’s transition to Celtic, a move endorsed by Wanyama, has been a remarkable success story. The 25-year-old defender, reflecting on his journey and the amusing apartment scenario, shared a lighthearted moment about his former teammate.
“He’s in my apartment that I used to be in,” Johnston chuckled. “He’s struggling to figure out how to switch over to my Wi-Fi – it’s a long story, the poor guy.”

The connection between Johnston and Wanyama goes beyond shared living spaces and internet providers. Having previously played together at CF Montreal in Major League Soccer (MLS), the duo developed a strong rapport that has endured both time and distance.
Wanyama’s guidance played a pivotal role in Johnston’s decision to join Celtic, a choice that has not only been beneficial for the player but has also positively impacted the team. Since donning the Celtic jersey on January 1, 2023, Johnston has brought a fresh dynamism to the squad, proving to be a valuable asset on the field.
With an impressive tally of three trophies in his first six months and aspirations for further silverware in 2024, Johnston’s contributions to the team are undeniably significant.
