The World Rugby U20 Championship U20 Trophy will return for the first time since the pandemic, with the tournaments being held in South Africa and Kenya, respectively.
The U20 Championship will take place from June 24th to July 14th in South Africa, while the U20 Trophy will be held from July 15th to 30th in Kenya.
These tournaments have been cancelled for the past three years due to the pandemic, but will now return in 2023, in rugby’s bicentenary year.
The Rugby U20 Tournament will feature 12 teams, who will compete in three pools, with the last-place team being relegated to the U20 Trophy.
The U20 Trophy will feature eight teams, with the winner being promoted to the U20 Championship in 2024.
Both tournaments are a key part of World Rugby’s efforts to increase the competitiveness of global rugby and provide a pathway to the elite level for young players.
