Footballers will now be booked for screaming and flopping after lawmakers IFAB gave referees powers to punish such actions.
During the weekend Arsenal star Alexandre Lacazette was widely mocked for yelling out after a challenge during his side’s clash with Burnley.
IFAB hopes to stop this embarrassing behavior by giving referees more power to book players for diving and award yellow cards for theatrical screams and flops if they feel players are faking.
Burnley’s empty Turf Moor allowed Lacazette’s yelp following Erik Pieters’ foul to be heard very clearly, prompting initial concern over a potentially serious injury. But just moments after Andre Marriner cautioned the former Stoke full-back, Lacazette sprung back to his feet.
The Frenchman was even mocked by Gary Lineker, Ian Wright and Dion Dublin who finished the show by falling off their chairs.
We see you Alexandre Lacazette, and we raise you… 😂

Empty stadiums have enabled referees to hear more than ever before, both from players and their managers.
