When discussing some of the most popular athletes on social media, typically the names Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Lebron James come to mind, but there exists one athlete in a less popular sport who has a remarkable number of followers on social media – cricketer Virat Kohli.

The Indian international recently clocked 100 million followers on social media which is an incredible achievement on its own.
Cristiano, Lionel Messi and Neymar are the only other active athletes who have more followers than Kohli, who is considered one of the best batsmen in contemporary cricket.
The 32-year old is also the first Asian to achieve the 100 million follower feat.
Other people (not necessarily athletes) who are well over the 100 million followers club include Dwayne Johnson, better known as The Rock, RnB singer Beyoncé and Pop star Arianna Grande.
As far as his career is concerned, Kohli is regarded as one of the best in cricket as he has 27 centuries in Test matches and 43 tons in ODI cricket.
He has the enviable record of being the most followed person in India for years now.
His loyal fans also took to Twitter to celebrate with him on his achievement, as he now joins the big guns in the list of popular athletes on one of the most lucrative social media platforms.
