Rising boxer Shakur Stevenson was standing right next to rapper Takeoff before his shooting early Tuesday morning in Houston.
The rapper, who was a part of the group Migos, was killed outside a bowling alley after a party.
In a video that has now gone viral, fellow Migos member Quavo, Takeoff’s uncle, is seen in an argument about basketball. Shortly after, shots can be heard as a crowd scatters in different directions.
Shakur was standing next to the rapper when he was shot.
Unverified reports on social media claimed the shooting was linked to a dispute over a dice game.
25-year-old Stevenson, a former champ who’s regarded as one of the best fighters in the world escaped unhurt in the process.
Two other people – a 23-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman – were also injured in the shooting and took themselves to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Michael Arrington with police department’s homicide division.
Employees of the venue told police an argument took place after the party ended when a large group of people gathered at the front door area outside of the building, which led to the shooting. At least 40 people were at the scene at the time of the shooting, Finner said.
