Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on Saturday, March 13 came out guns blazing against critics.
Ronaldo, 36, was subjected to some rare criticism from Italian Media, who blamed him for Juventus’ woeful performances in the Champions League.
Notably, the superstar jumped during a free kick allowing Porto player Sérgio Miguel Relvas de Oliveira to find the net from the set piece
.
Cristiano remained silent on his lucrative social media page for a large part of the week but decided to break his silence on Saturday.
Here is what he had to say:
“More important than the number of falls you take in life, is how fast and how strong you get back on your feet… True champions never break! Our focus is already in Cagliari, in the Serie A struggle, in the Italian Cup final and in everything that we can still achieve this season.🙏🏽
It’s true that the past belongs in museums (I should say!), but fortunately, football has memory… and so do I! History can’t be deleted, it’s written every single day with resilience, team spirit, persistence and lots of hard work. And those who don’t understand this, will never achieve glory and success,”
From the statement, it is clear Cristiano still has that elite mentality despite some failures.
He also seemed to tell critics to check his past stats and achievements, saying it will be difficult to repeat it.
