Paris Saint Germain star Angel Di Maria was the victim of a robbery in his home in France over the weekend.
Di Maria was in action against Nantes on Sunday but had to be withdrawn after he was informed about the robbery incident at his house with members of his family present.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side succumbed to a shock 2-1 defeat against the relegation-threatened Nantes as Moses Simon found the winner which turned the game on its head.
Before Di Maria was withdrawn, the game was well poised at 1-1 and the Argentine was doing his best to help his side grab he decisive goal.
However, at some point, PSG sporting director Leonardo signaled communication to Pochettino on the sidelines to withdraw the 32-year old so he could attend to the emergency.
Di Maria was immediately withdrawn, with Pochettino disappearing with his player down the tunnel before he came back to oversee the rest of the match.
After the substitution, PSG seemed shaken by the news and this seemed to have distorted their overall game as Nantes eventually grabbed the win.
This is not the first time Di Maria’s family has experiences a traumatizing situation such as this one.
