Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Serie A player of the year yet again.
Cristiano was named the outstanding player for the 2019/2020 season at the Gran Gala del Calcio on Friday, March 19.
The award is voted by the Italian Footballers’ Association, who decided the 36-year old’s contribution for his Juventus side en route to winning the Serie A last season was outstanding.
“It was a strange year, a year that no one would have wanted but on a personal and team level, it was positive because we won the championship,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“At the beginning, it was difficult to play in empty stadiums, but our goal was to win the championship and we did it. We missed the Champions League but that’s how football is,”

Ronaldo scored 31 goals in 33 league appearances for Juventus and his sensational strike against Sampdoria in December 2019 was voted the goal of the season.
Atalanta’s Gien Piero Gasperini won the manager of the year award while in the ladies’ category, Juventus forward Cristiana Girelli received the best female player award.
The Gran Galà del Calcio awards is usually a glittery affair but due to the pandemic, this edition had to be presented as a televised show.
