Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has been brutally notified that he “may never play football again” if he decides to undergo a third ankle operation.
The winger has been plagued by injuries since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2019.
According to reports, the 29-year old wants another surgery to possibly end his nightmare injuries but Dr Jose Gonzalez, who works for Atletico Madrid, is strongly against it.
“Hazard has to train with the team for up to 10 training sessions. In my experience it is difficult for him to return to playing at his level with Real Madrid this season,” Gonzalez said as per The Sun.
“If a player returns after a long injury without having hardly trained, the most normal thing is that he is injured again.
“He has anxiety, he wants to show that he is worth and wants to give 100% and he is not there for that.”
Hazard has three La Liga goals since joining Real Madrid and has made a mere 25 appearances.
Since 2019, he has endured 11 different injuries as a Real Madrid player.
The fact that he is out again with injury could mean he misses this year’s European Championships.
Real Madrid are keen on seeing Hazard postpone the surgery, but Belgium are reportedly determined to have one of their main attackers ready for the Euros set for June.
