Mwamba’s inside centre, Billy ‘The Kid’ Odhiambo, has officially retired from rugby at the age of 30. The Kenyan Sevens rugby player enjoyed a remarkable 11-year career, competing in 68 tournaments and scoring an impressive total of 111 tries.
To commemorate his 30th birthday and retirement, Odhiambo expressed his gratitude to his supporters: “As I celebrate my 30th birthday, I also want to announce my retirement from Rugby.
I appreciate all of your support throughout my 11-year career and look forward to the opportunities that the future has in store. Billy ‘The Kid’ Odhiambo, signing off,” he shared on his X platform.

Notably, at the age of 28, Odhiambo secured his place in the record books by scoring the second try for Shujaa, following a brilliant play by Daniel Taabu. Taabu swiftly reacted to a penalty tap, setting up Odhiambo for a spectacular score.
This achievement marked a new milestone in World Rugby Sevens, as Odhiambo joined the ranks of three other legendary Kenyan players.

Collins Injera, Humphrey Kayange, and Willy Ambaka are the three athletes who have also surpassed the 100-try mark for the national team.
Injera ranks second in the World Rugby Sevens Series for the highest number of tries scored, with an astounding 271 to his name. Kayange and Ambaka have equally remarkable records, boasting 159 and 131 tries, respectively.
