Two-time olympic marathon Eliud Kipchoge on Sunday, September 25 smashed the wolrd record after setting a time of 2:01:09 in the Berlin Marathon.
The storied athelet managed to outrun his opptoenets from the start, giving an impressive performance that woed the world.
According to hdsports, Kipchoge will take home close to Ksh3 million for winning the race, Ksh6.8 million for breaking the world record and Ksh4.1 million for the time bonus.
Kipchoge’s estimated full earnings amount to $113,000 (KSh 13.6 million), Daily Nation reported.
His counterpart and runners-up, Mark Korir will get Ksh1.37 million for setting 2:05:58.
It’s not the first time, however, the athelet has made such a huge sum. According to ABTC, Kipchoge is estimated to be worth at least 3 million dollars.
