World 800 meters champion David Rudisha and Five others were on Saturday involved in a plane crash at Imbirikani in Kajiado county.
According to sources, Rudisha and his team crashed in a Cessna U206 Super Skywagon reg 5Y-BGJ while returning from the Masaai Olympics held in Kimana area of Kajiado South subcounty.
The news was first reported by journalist James Smart who took to Twitter to break the news saying: “World 800 meters champion @rudishadavid involved in an airplane crash. He is safe,” Smart said.
The event was organized by Kajiado Governor Joseph ole Lenku and is aimed at promoting wildlife conservation efforts.

Only one person in the accident was seriously injured which was caused by mechanical problems forcing the plane to crash land.
“All the occupants came out unhurt except one who was rushed to the hospital,” a resident who arrived at the scene immediately after the crash said.
The incident comes just two days after two people were on Thursday, killed when a light aircraft they were flying in crashed within Tsavo National Park.
The two included the pilot, a former Kenya Wildlife Service warden, and his co-pilot.
