Stepping onto the red carpet at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame ceremony, Allen Iverson created a memorable entrance that turned heads on Saturday.

In a role of great significance, Iverson took on the responsibility of presenting the induction of Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

Evidently, Iverson sought to make a bold impression himself, choosing an outfit that exuded style and admiration. He donned a suit jacket with Wade’s name and the iconic No. 3 jersey proudly displayed on the back.

Dwyane Wade’s legacy within the Miami Heat franchise is nothing short of remarkable. Recognized as the finest player in the Heat’s history, he holds the record as the all-time leading scorer and boasts an impressive three championship victories.

For these guys to be themselves, to look how they want to look. You know, the only time I’ve ever known about wearing suits was going to church or going to a funeral. I never wore no suit to the basketball court. But I just felt like, after the game, I’m going to Fridays and I’m going to the club. I mean, where am I going after the game with a suit on?

“The only reason I felt like the dress code came in was because once they saw I was coming in wearing what I wanted to wear and I was getting away with it. And other guys was like, ‘Well sh*t, if he can do it then I can do it too.’  And that’s when everybody in the league started doing it. And that’s when David Stern said no. God rest his soul, but that’s when he said no.”

Despite a brief hiatus of 18 months to play for the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, Wade’s return to the Heat in 2018 was a significant decision, allowing him to conclude his illustrious career where it began.

Wade’s connection to the number 3 is deeply intertwined with his admiration for Allen Iverson. Their similar playing styles, marked by their willingness to put their bodies on the line, have led to a mutual respect.

Beyond their on-court excellence, the duo also shared a poignant moment in 2020 during a tribute following the tragic passing of Kobe Bryant.

As the spotlight shone on Iverson’s red-carpet appearance, it was not just a display of fashion but a testament to the enduring camaraderie and mutual inspiration that exist among basketball greats.
