Nike has dropped Kylian Mbappé’s latest edition of Mercurial Superfly 9 and they are brewing a lot of unexpected rumours.
Inspired by the Jordan 7 and Parisian Afropop, the shoe is available in three colorways:
- Dark Beetroot/University Blue/Vivid Purple/Metallic Vivid Gold
- Yellow Strike/Barely Grape/Coconut Milk/Sunset Glow
- Black/Summit White/Volt/Dark Smoke Grey
Nike defined the shoe as a copy of KM’s pitch presence with extraordinary grip.
“Kylian Mbappé’s explosiveness, plus his twitchy change of direction, puts him firmly in the world class of finishers. With nods to his heritage, this cleat is made to help you play just like KM—with blinding pace and purpose. We added a Zoom Air unit, made specifically for soccer, and grippy texture up top for exceptional touch, so you can dominate in the waning minutes of a match—when it matters most,” Nike shared during the launch.
Other than the look and feel, the colourway of the shoe, according to many internet users, might be a hint to where KM is heading following his recent clash with fellow teammate Neymar. Some believe he’s headed to Barcelona following the standoff.

According to sources, Mbappé wanted Neymar to be sold this summer.
The Frenchman had decided that “there was only room for two of, Neymar and Lionel Messi” and he was eager to learn from Messi rather than Neymar, with whom he has already spent multiple seasons.

The forwards clashed in August’s win over Montpellier when Neymar prevented Mbappe, who had seen an earlier penalty saved, from taking another spot-kick, ignoring the order of penalty takers assigned by boss Christophe Galtier.
