Last year, as part of Discovery Channel’s Shark Week, a 51-year-old took on the colossal predator in an interesting three-round bout.

But how did that come to happen? In an interview in his Hotboxin’ podcast alongside Dana White, Tyson explained how he got the gig.

“He gets me a job on shark week, he really cares about me – Dana really cares about my well-being,” joked Tyson.

Prior to getting into the water with the shark, the retired boxing champion was supposedly in foul moods.

“I got you a TV show, I got you Shark Week, so he had to go down and swim with these sharks,” explained White in a rejoinder during the podcast.

“And I heard the day he had to go and swim he was super p***ed off, and the whole crew were scared that day because Mike didn’t want to get in the water with the sharks.”

In round one of the unlikely bout with sharks, Tyson put the predator in a state of inactivity, referred to as tonic immobility.

The second round involved Tyson pushing the sharks away whenever they got too close and for the third round, he had to dive 50 feet underwater to put a shark in state of immobility.

He somehow managed to achieve his objectives in the final round but not after throwing up.

To see Mike Tyson vulnerable and in fear was truly a spectacle for someone who was known as “The baddest man on the planet in his prime.
