Fans are set to resume attending sporting events in England from May 17 following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s new directive that will see the easing of coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
Supporters have been prevented from attending sporting venues across England since the scrapping of the tier system in December.
“The turnstiles of our sports stadia will once again rotate, subject in all cases to capacity limits depending on the size of the venue,” Boris told the House of Commons.
That means the last round of fixtures set on Sunday, May 23, might attract at least 25% of the capacity which roughly translates to 10,000 fans.
The rest of the EFL will also see fans attend. The Championship, League One and League Two games are scheduled to take place on the weekend of May 29 – with 90,000-capacity Wembley the usual venue.
The PM however said that he won’t hesitate in reversing the decision incase Corona Virus cases surge.
