Mutahi Ngunyi Stands Up for Azziad Nasenya

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has stepped up to support radio presenter and social media influencer Azziad Nasenya, who has been facing persistent online harassment.

Azziad, known for her trendy style and fashion sense, has been subjected to online trolling since as early as 2020 when she gained fame for her captivating dance performance to the song “Utawezana.”

The most recent of the controversies surrounding the content creator was when she was among senior personalities appointed to the Talenta Hela Council by Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba.

Also appointed were renowned media personalities Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill, Carol Radull, Jimmy Gathu and musician Esther Akoth alias Akothee.

Ngunyi took to Twitter to defend Azziad, stating, “Let’s give Azziad Kid a break. We shouldn’t be a country that tears down its brightest talents just because they don’t conform.” He expressed his sentiment on Tuesday.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has said he cannot resign over allegations raised against him by Members of Parliament some even linking him to Azziad as a form of office mismanagement.

The CS noted that his scorecard is impressive and is on the right path to deliver his mandate at the ministry.

“I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind, work, and imagination that I am performing well as Sports CS. Ten months ago when I walked into this ministry, I inherited an arena that was in a total mess,” CS Ababu Said.

Azziad Nasenya’s Resilience Amid Cyberbullying

In recent times, the online bullying targeting Azziad has intensified, including instances of body shaming that led her to pursue legal action against one of the culprits.

Ngunyi argues that Azziad, as a skilled content creator, doesn’t owe anyone validation for her choices and how she presents herself. He questioned, “Why do some individuals feel entitled to judge her reality?”

During a recent interview amid the surge in cyberbullying, Azziad conveyed her resilience, citing her unwavering faith in God.

She stated, “I may be small in stature, but I have a mighty God behind me. My existence and success are rooted in my faith.” She made these remarks as a response to the negativity she’s been facing.

Azziad revealed that prior to her fame in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, she wasn’t aware of the extent of cyberbullying.
