Jude Bellingham made a splash at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday evening, but the focus quickly shifted to his choice of trousers.
The 20-year-old English and Real Madrid football sensation was honored with the Kopa Trophy, but before that, his red carpet attire became a viral sensation on social media. Standing alongside his teammate Vinicius Jr, fans couldn’t help but notice the unusual width of his trousers.
Compared by some to a parachute due to their roominess, others found themselves perplexed by his sartorial choice, which consisted of wide trousers paired with a smart double-breasted jacket and a bow tie.

Critics Target Jude Bellingham’s Outfit at Ballon d’Or Ceremony
One social media user quipped, “Why is Bellingham wearing a parachute to the awards?” Another chimed in, “Bellingham’s stylist needs to be fired, given how his trousers look.” A third person agreed, saying, “Bellingham is a true Englishman – what are those trousers?” A fourth jokingly commented, “Bellingham is still borrowing his dad’s trousers.”
The former Borussia Dortmund and Birmingham City star received the Kopa Trophy, which is awarded to the best player under the age of 21. Jamal Musiala, named as the runner-up, sent a supportive message from Munich to his former England youth international teammate.
When asked about his start at Real Madrid, he discussed his impressive performance, boasting 13 goals in 13 matches, including a memorable brace in an El Clasico match.
