Leeds United star Patrick Bamford has confirmed that he captained himself in the popular Fantasy Premier League as his side cruised to a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Monday night.
Bamford’s Milestone Goal and Fantasy Premier League Success
Bamford scored in the 52nd minute after Jack Harrison’s effort was saved by the Palace keeper to ensure all points went to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
The English forward has been a revelation in Leeds’ first campaign in the Premier League since 2004, netting 12 goals in 22 games.
His goal against Crystal Palace was a landmark one for two reasons – one because it was his 100th career goal as a professional footballer.
It also helped his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ambitions as it just happens that Bamford gave himself the arm band in the popular online football competition.
Speaking after the game, Bamford made the revelation as he hilariously explained he was a bit gutted that he missed a chance in the first half when his header was saved by Guaita.
Bamford’s Humorous Fantasy Premier League Choice
“I captained myself, I was kicking myself after I missed that one in the first half,” he said, leaving reporters in stitches.
It is now highly likely that the 27-year old will be getting much more questions on his Fantasy Premier League choices now that he revealed he is a fan of the game.
Leeds’ victory over Crystal Palace propelled them to the top half of the table as they continue their impressive campaign under manager Marcelo Bielsa.
