Isaac Drogba, son of Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba, has taken the first major step to becoming a professional football player by joining Italian side Folgore Caratese.
The 20-year old had brief spells with Chelsea’s academy as well as French side Guingamp’s team B side.
His father Drogba played professionally for both Guingamp and Chelsea.
Folgore Caratese took to their social media to announce their new signing, saying “Isaac Drogba is our new player. The class 2000 striker arrives as a final Bienview a Karate,”
Just like his father, Isaac primarily operates in attack, mainly playing as an advanced midfielder.
His first order of business with his new club will be to attempt to help them fight for promotion to the Serie C as they currently sit seventh in the fourth division, two points off the play off places.
Isaac’s dad Didier hung up his boots in 2018 after an illustrious career full of success.
Drogba senior started out at Le Mans before joining Guingamp, then making the move to Olympique de Marseille where he bagged 32 goals in 55 games, sparking interest across Europe and earning him a move to Chelsea.
One of his proudest moments in a Chelsea shirt was the iconic header he scored in the Champions League final against Bayern Munich which helped his side to the trophy.
His 164 goals for Chelsea have helped the Blues to four Premier League titles, four FA Cup wins and three League cup triumphs.
