Incredible scenes were witnessed on Wednesday, 10th February in during the Taca de Portugal semi-final first-leg clash involving Sporting Braga and FC Porto as players had to abandon football briefly to attend to a faulty ambulance.
The ambulance, which had to be called onto the pitch, had to be pushed by players after it broke down while attending to an injured player.
During the highly entertaining game, David Carmo suffered what looked like a worrying ankle injury.
After initial receiving first aid, an ambulance was called onto the pitch to carry the player away for further treatment.
Carmo injured himself when his side Braga were losing 1-0 and he lunged in a frantic attempt to prevent Luis Diaz from doubling his side’s lead.
The 21-year old could then be seen writhing in pain on the pitch with players from both teams calling on emergency services.

Diaz was eventually sent off after review from the VAR showed he caught Carmo high on the ankle.
Moments after Carmo was loaded onto the ambulance, the vehicle broke down, prompting players from both teams to come together in attempt to revive it.
They eventually managed to push it off, but not before it left damaging tyre marks all over the pitch.
With Porto clinging on to their narrow lead with 10 men, they were dealt a blow when the ref added a massive 12 minutes due to Carmo’s injury.
Within that time, Porto got another man sent off and Braga snatched an equaliser towards the very end of added time.
