Gor Mahia is set to face significant financial consequences for the incidents of hooliganism involving some of their fans that resulted in extensive damage at Kasarani Stadium last weekend.
Sports Kenya, the entity responsible for stadium management in the country, has issued a bill of close to Ksh2 million to Gor Mahia in response to the chaos witnessed during the club’s FKF Premier League clash against Murang’a Seal.

The billing, amounting to Ksh1,995,000, covers the costs of repairing seats, electrical panels, and wooden panels that were destroyed by a section of fans during the match.
Additionally, Gor Mahia, which has been utilizing Kasarani Stadium as their home ground, will be prohibited from accessing any Sports Kenya-managed facility until the financial settlement for the damages is made.
The turbulent scenes unfolded when a group of Gor Mahia fans engaged in disorderly conduct within the stadium, resulting in confrontations with security personnel.
The chaos originated when an irate Gor Mahia supporter entered the pitch to confront the referee, alleging poor officiating standards during the game.

The controversy escalated with the disallowed goal by Benson Omala, which stirred emotions among the fans. Frustration peaked when Murang’a Seal committed a perceived foul near the end of the game, seemingly overlooked by the referee.
In response to these contentious moments, fans expressed their discontent by uprooting seats and hurling them onto the pitch.
Law enforcement authorities intervened, deploying tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the unruly crowd. The ensuing chaos persisted for an extended period before eventually subsiding, leaving visible and substantial damage in the stadium.
This incident marks another instance where Sports Kenya has invoiced Gor Mahia for hooliganism-related issues, highlighting an ongoing challenge in curbing such behavior despite previous financial penalties imposed on the club.
