There were concerns ahead of the new campaign that Lionel Messi’s performances would dip after Barcelona compelled him to stay at the club.
But two thirds of the season in and the Argentine is still showing some exemplary form aged 33.

He was at it once again on Saturday, February 27 after setting up Ousmanne Dembele and scoring himself as Barcelona won 2-0 against Sevilla.
His goal and assist meant Messi has now been involved in 30+ goals for 13 straight seasons, which is an incredible stat.

As far as his current form is concerned, no other player in Europe’s top five leagues comes close to him as he has scored in every one of his last nine games in La Liga.
In 2021, Messi has 14 goals and four assists in all competitions for Barcelona – a stat that debunks the myth that he is slowing down with age.
