Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson will continue grieving his father in England as he was unable to fly out for his funeral in Brazil.
Daily Mail reports that the devastated Alisson tried his best to fly out of the country for his father’s funeral but was restricted.
Jose Agostinho Becker drowned in a lake on Wednesday, February 24 and was declared missing for hours before his body was eventually found.
His body was found at midnight by the bank by friends and employees of the property who had started a frantic search.
Rules relating to COVID-19 restrict the goalkeeper from traveling
outside the UK and he will hence be forced to stay in the country alongside his pregnant wife.
According to a source from the Sport Clube Internacional in Porto Alegre, Alisson, who spoke to his father nearly everyday, was determined to make the flight to his native Brazil upon the news of his passing.
‘He was doing everything he could to find a way, desperately looking at flights and ways he could get around both the ban on flights from the UK and the severe Covid restrictions in the state,” the source said.
Alisson’s older brother Muriel, 34, will be lucky enough to offer his father a decent send off as he plays for Rio de Janeiro club Fluminese as a goalkeeper as well.
This comes two weeks after Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was also forced to miss out on his mother’s funeral as a result of similar restrictions.
