More than 150 swimmers have officially confirmed their participation in the upcoming Kiambu Masters Championship, scheduled for December 9 at Potters House School in Runda.
Stanley Kaberu, Chairman of the Kiambu County Swimming Association (KCSA), announced that three counties, namely Mombasa, Kisumu, and Nairobi, have already affirmed their presence at this one-day event.
The competition will encompass age categories of 25 and above, as well as the Under-10 to 18 age groups.

Expressing a commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, especially for participants aged 25 and above, Kaberu conveyed his anticipation for a successful event with an increasing number of counties joining the competition. Notably, the defending champions, Harpoons Swimming Club, have enrolled for this edition.
Kaberu emphasized that every participant would receive certificates as a recognition of their involvement. He described the championship not only as a competitive platform but also as a social and enjoyable event for master swimmers of varying skill levels.
Highlighting the broader significance of the championship, Kaberu noted that some swimmers view this event as a stepping stone for the World Championship scheduled to take place in Doha, Qatar, in February of the following year.
Collins Marigiri, the Secretary General of Kenya Aquatics, pledged to facilitate collaboration with counties to elevate swimming and other aquatic sports from grassroots levels to the global stage.
He commended Kiambu County for leading the way in enhancing standards and expressed the desire to extend such opportunities to underprivileged communities, promoting widespread access to swimming.
