Safari Rally driver Maxine Wahome’s murder trial took a significant step forward on Wednesday as a key witness, a neighbor of Asad Khan, testified in court. The witness shed light on the tumultuous relationship between Maxine and the deceased, Asad.
The court was informed that Maxine and Asad frequently clashed, engaging in disputes and physical altercations. The witness, identified as Chemutai Kipkorir, attested to the recurring conflicts between the two.
“From the time I moved into that house, the two used to fight,” Chemutai disclosed. “Sometimes in a month, I would not hear anything, and sometimes I would hear it twice a week.”
Woman’s Cries Amid Asad’s Heated Altercation
On December 12, 2022, Chemutai recounted an unsettling incident. She was inside her home when she heard a disturbance emanating from Asad’s residence.
Though she did not venture out to intervene or separate the feuding parties, she described hearing a woman’s cries amid the turmoil.
“As he was yelling, I heard… ‘Get out of my house,’ then I heard the lady crying,” she told the court. In response to the escalating situation, Chemutai used her home intercom to contact the security guard.
She explained, “I went to my living room and used my house intercom to call the guard.” Subsequently, she heard the guard attempting to gain access to the residence, including knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell, and descending the stairs.

However, the commotion did not cease. Chemutai recounted, “Thereafter, the commotion stopped for about five minutes, and then the commotion started again. I heard sounds of a struggle; that’s what I could hear.”
Fearing for the safety of those involved, Chemutai dialed 911 and reached out to the chairman of the Kileleshwa association. She expressed the terror she felt, noting, “I heard glasses falling from my dining room window…. I tried to call 911 and Kileleshwa because it was terrifying and sought police intervention.” She further revealed hearing someone groaning during this period.
“I heard someone saying ‘Kalulu… Kalulu’ (referring to Asad), asking what had happened,” Chemutai explained. From her vantage point on her balcony, she observed neighbors and the chairman coming to Asad’s aid. They carried him out of the building, placing him in a car. Chemutai noted that Asad was visibly covered in blood, and it appeared that one of his legs was under pressure.

Under cross-examination, Chemutai was asked about Asad’s temper. She disclosed her knowledge of his violent temper, noting that even before Maxine, Asad’s previous girlfriend had also been subjected to violence. Arguments were commonplace, and the women involved would ultimately leave as a result.
The trial continues as further witnesses provide their testimonies, seeking to unravel the circumstances surrounding Asad Khan’s tragic demise.
