Floyd Mayweather is not dubbed “The Money Man” for nothing as he has earned the nickname time and time again.

The retired lightweight champion, once staked a staggering $13 million on American Football League team Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl.

This was way back in 2014 when Mayweather was still active in boxing and making a killing off his success.

Obviously, it was not possible for bookies to accept such aa huge stake as a one off but that did not deter Mayweather from placing the bet.

According to reports, the boxer used the help of seven different agencies coupled with a few offshore accounts.

Broncos went on to lose to the Seattle Seahawks 43-8 in what was at the time the largest margin of victory for an underdog in Superbowl history.

No other side had ever won by a margin of 40, while restricting their opponents to less than 10 points.

The result meant Mayweather, despite his ambitious bet, did not make that much when it came to his winnings.

With so much money and a knack for taking risks, Mayweather was at it again in 2015 when he bet $815,000 on Broncos to beat the Jets.

This time, he was lucky as Broncos won the game 31-17 , helping Mayweather to a handsome $600,000 profit.

On the $13 million bet, Mayweather later denied having taken that sort of risk as he boasted the only ‘team’ he would ever place such a hefty amount on was himself since he is an unbeaten champion.
