UFC fans’ worst fears were confirmed on Friday, March 19 as fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov officially retired from the sport.

Khabib reportedly went to dinner with UFC chief Dana White, who later confirmed on twitter that the champion was calling it quits finally.

White shared a selfie of the two together along with the caption, “He is officially retired. It was incredible to watch you work @TeamKhabib thank you for EVERYTHING and enjoy whatever is next my friend.”

He described the Thursday night dinner as “a good dinner with some great people” and “a real conversation between real men.”

Khabib initially expressed his intentions to quit during a speech after his victory against Justin Gaethje, but fans were still optimistic about the prospect of Khabib facing off with Conor McGregor.

He will definitely look back at his career with fond memories as he has had a solid grip on the UFC lightweight championship since April 2018, making him the longest-serving champion in that category.

One of his most famous styles is the ‘grappling’ technique.

He is certainly assured of a place in UFC history as he retires with an impressive 29-0 undefeated record.
